#1: Spend 10 minutes on the foam roller.
Every time I get on my rumble roller all I hear is crunching and cracking, but boy do I feel good afterwards! Often I don’t realize just how much tension I’m carrying until I am kneading it out on the living room floor, and you might not either.
#2: Plan your meals for the week.
On Sundays I roast a big tray of veggies, and a couple of chicken breasts, and chop up fresh fruit. Everything goes into pyrex, and I repurpose for salads, pizza toppings, pasta stir-ins, etc for the first couple of days of the week. An hour or planning on Sunday means more chillax time after work when I really need it.
#3: Get enough sleep.
Do it. You’ll feel SO much better for it. This doesn’t mean that you have to hibernate for the weekend, just give yourself the time and space you need to get enough shut-eye.
#4: Break-up with booze.
When was the last time you had a weekend off from the adult bevvies? If you can’t remember, then maybe it’s time to break-up with booze. Better rest, happy gut, and a fatter wallet are just a few of the benefits from a weekend-long booze break.
#5: Get outside.
Clear your lungs and your mind with a little fresh air. Last weekend I walked the Tennessee Valley Trail, and spent Sunday afternoon basking in the sun on the grass in the at Off the Grid in the Presidio. It was such a nice break from my hectic weekday life, and good for both my body and brain. Even if you only see a glimpse of the sun this weekend, a small dose of immune-boosting, bone-strengthening vitamin D is better than nothing!
HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!
